In the heart of Zamboanga Peninsula, lies the picturesque Mt. Malindang Range Natural Park, a gem of nature's beauty and wonder. But behind the stunning landscapes and lush greenery lies a tale of collaboration and vision, brought to life by the birth of the Mt. Malindang Tourism Federation.
The story unfolds in May of 2023, during a Capacity Workshop hosted by Misamis University. The event brought together site owners and tourism officers from the provinces surrounding the Mt. Malindang Range Natural Park – Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, and Misamis Occidental. Little did they know that this gathering would sow the seeds of an inspiring initiative.
Among the participants were representatives from notable establishments such as the Mabanag Spring Resort and Villa Pablea in Rizal, Zamboanga del Norte. As ideas flowed and aspirations were shared, a spark ignited. As it would be very hard to gather these folks again, I proactively suggested the notion of forming an organization that would harness the collective potential of these stakeholders to promote and preserve the natural beauty of the Mt. Malindang.
As the sun set on that memorable day, a newfound determination had taken root. The concept of the Mt. Malindang Tourism Federation had been born. In a harmonious consensus, officers were selected to spearhead this endeavor, each contributing their unique expertise and passion for the cause. The dream was clear: to create a unified front that would not only enhance tourism opportunities but also safeguard the park's ecological integrity.
From that moment, progress became the watchword of the Federation. Their journey, though young, has already showcased remarkable strides. Working tirelessly, they have established initiatives to raise awareness about responsible tourism, organized clean-up drives to preserve the park's natural allure, and crafted innovative strategies to attract visitors without compromising the environment.
The Federation's story is a testament to the power of collaboration, vision, and the determination to make a difference. It serves as a reminder that when like-minded individuals come together, the impact can transcend expectations. Through their concerted efforts, the Mt. Malindang Tourism Federation is shaping a sustainable future where both the beauty of nature and the prosperity of the community can coexist harmoniously. Kudos to the President, Atty. Salatandre and all stakeholders and site owners, members and allies.
